Terms of Service

1. What Defitax Is

Defitax is a data preparation and reporting tool for cryptocurrency transactions. We pull your on-chain transaction history, let you import exchange CSVs, calculate cost basis and gains/losses, and generate tax-ready documents (CSV trade lists and pre-filled tax forms).

That is all we do. We organize and present your data. We are a tool, not an advisor.

2. What Defitax Is Not

Defitax does not provide tax advice, legal advice, financial advice, or accounting services. We do not replace a CPA, tax attorney, or any licensed professional. The reports and calculations we generate are for informational purposes only.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your tax filings. Always review your data and consult a qualified tax professional before filing. If our numbers don't match your records, trust your records and your accountant—not our software.

3. How You Sign In

You authenticate by connecting a Solana wallet and signing a message. We never ask for or store your private keys, seed phrases, or passwords. Your wallet signature proves ownership—we only store your public wallet address.

You are responsible for keeping your wallet and private keys secure. If someone else has access to your wallet, they can sign in as you.

4. What Data We Store

We store the following data on our servers:

• Wallet addresses — your public addresses, used to fetch transactions
• Transaction history — fetched from public blockchains and third-party APIs (Etherscan, Helius)
• Uploaded CSV data — exchange export files you upload for CEX import
• Calculated reports — cost basis lots, gain/loss figures, generated tax documents
• Payment records — which plan you paid for and for which tax year, along with the on-chain USDC transaction signature
• Country code — derived from your IP at login for internal quality assurance (we do not store your IP)
• Session tokens — JWT-based authentication tokens to keep you signed in

AI Tax Agent:If you use the AI Tax Agent feature, your questions and relevant transaction data (anonymized — wallet addresses are included but no personal identity is attached) are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Anthropic's data usage policy applies to this processing. Anthropic states they do not use API inputs to train models. You can avoid this by not using the AI Agent feature.

We do not collect your email, name, phone number, IP-based location, or any personal information beyond what is listed above. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

5. What We Do Not Do With Your Data

• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers
• We do not use your data to train machine learning models
• We do not share your data with third parties except as needed to operate the Service: blockchain APIs (Etherscan, Helius) for fetching transactions, price APIs (CoinGecko, CryptoCompare, DexScreener) for pricing, and Anthropic's Claude API for the AI Tax Agent feature
• We do not monitor your wallet activity after you stop using the Service

6. Data Accuracy

We fetch transaction data from blockchain networks and price data from third-party APIs (CryptoCompare, CoinGecko, DexScreener). Blockchain data is publicly available, but our parsing, classification, and price lookups may contain errors. Some transactions may be missed, miscategorized, or priced incorrectly—especially for obscure tokens, complex DeFi interactions, or chains we don't fully support yet.

You must review your transaction data and reports before filing taxes. We give you the tools to edit and correct your data. The final responsibility is yours.

7. Payments and Refunds

Defitax offers a free tier and a paid Unlimited plan. The free tier lets you sync wallets, import CEX data, and preview your full PnL. The Unlimited plan ($199/year, paid once with USDC on Solana) unlocks report exports (CSV trade lists and pre-filled tax forms), all cost basis methods, and the AI Tax Agent.

All sales are final. No refunds. Because you receive immediate access to all premium features upon payment, we cannot issue refunds. Use the free tier to review your data and verify your PnL before upgrading.

8. Account Deletion

You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data (wallet addresses, transactions, reports, payment records) by emailing contact@defitax.ai. We will delete your data within 30 days of the request. Once deleted, this cannot be undone.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for money laundering, fraud, or any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the Service
• Submit fraudulent payment transactions
• Upload malicious files or excessively large data to disrupt the Service
• Use automated bots or scripts to access the Service without permission

10. Limitation of Liability

Defitax is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Defitax and its operators shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to incorrect tax calculations, missed transactions, tax penalties, or lost data.

You use Defitax at your own risk. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active users.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or for any reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Payments made prior to termination are non-refundable. You may request data deletion after termination.
